Here lies Joseph Stock, Bishop of Waterford.
Having risen through the ranks of the Church he was deserving of the position he obtained. He exercised the duties of his office most devoutly and with the greatest enthusiasm. He was a truthful and pious promoter of religion, and he worked tirelessly to aid the poor. His education allowed him to acquire a deep knowledge of Theology, fluent as he was in many languages and especially in those needed for the study of Holy Scripture. He travelled the length and breadth of Europe, picking up the best of noble behaviour wherever he went; from this came his pleasantness and his refined elegance of manners. His wit and charm endeared him to everyone, and yet he was simple in his manners: he never forgot God, or a friend. May he enjoy eternal life.
This small memorial is erected by his affectionate wife, Mary Stock.
